MyPak's Sustainable Packaging Objectives

Our sustainability objectives can be summarised as:
1. Reduce to zero our consumption of non-renewable resources (e.g. materials and energy);
2. Reduce to zero our net generation of air emissions in production, transport and use that contribute to air pollution, including ozone layer depletion and global warming;
3. Reduce to zero our generation of waterborne emissions that contribute to pollution of waterways; and
4. Reduce to zero our production of solid waste requiring disposal in landfill.

We believe our manufacturing process, supply chain and paper pulp technology is the most efficient and sustainable packaging commercially available. We are currently collecting evidence and hope to soon have this fact independently verified.

Pulp Paper packaging has the highest recycling rates to any other packaging material:
1. Packaging Paper (including Paper Pulp) - 75%
2. Aluminium Cans - 65%
3. HDPE Milk Bottles - 50%
4. Glass Containers - 45%
5. Steel Cans - 41%
6. PET/Plastic Containers - 32%
7. Liquidpaperboard Cartons - 20%.

A substantial part of packaging materials are not currently recycled, for example flexible plastics and laminates used for food packaging.

China sets carbon target for 2020

China made an important commitment to restraining the rise in its greenhouse gas emissions on Thursday, announcing that it had set a target for reducing its carbon intensity by 40-45 per cent by 2020.

Coming on the eve of the Copenhagen climate change conference, the plan underlines the growing seriousness with which Beijing is treating the climate change debate. China’s foreign ministry also announced that Premier Wen Jiabao would attend the Copenhagen talks.
